It is very serious decision to have taken, for it puts me definitely outside the Law for the rest of my life. As a matter of fact, I was rather bored with it. In all these circumstances I have no doubt that it was my duty to remain at the India Office for the next 18 months.19 I could have wished that the decision might have been postponed for that period.
